Q: Is the new Minnesota Lottery app legitimate?
Yes! You may have noticed that the Minnesota Lottery’s new convenience app is available for free download in the Apple App Store and the Google Play store. Learn more in our blog post.
Q: Can I purchase lottery tickets online or on the app?
No. You can’t purchase tickets from the Minnesota Lottery online or on our mobile app. Tickets are only sold in person at one of our 3,000 brick-and-mortar retailers across Minnesota. You may have seen advertisements in recent years describing a product as the “official mobile lottery partner” of your favorite local sports team. These products are likely lottery service businesses. Lottery service businesses are not affiliated with the Minnesota Lottery, and we have no regulatory authority over their operations. For more information on lottery service businesses visit our blog post.
Q: Why is there a new bar code on lotto tickets?
You may notice a new barcode on lotto tickets across the state. Using the new app, you can scan the barcode to check and see if your ticket is a winner. While you can’t cash your ticket in the app, you can use the “Find a Retailer” feature to locate the nearest retailer to you and claim your prize. Note: the app scanning feature is not available between midnight and 5AM during system maintenance.
Q: Why can't I scan tickets on the mobile app right now?
Due to gaming system maintenance, ticket scanning functionality is unavailable between Midnight and 5 a.m. each day, just like in stores. If you are experiencing ticket scanning issues outside of the of the maintenance window, please contact our Customer Support team via email: cs.support@mnlottery.com or by phone: (651) 635-8273.
Q: Why do I need an account to scan my tickets on the mobile app?
Creating an account with us gives you access to enter non-winning tickets for 2nd Chance opportunities, enter our free online giveaways, check your numbers, and save digital play slips for your favorite games. If you win a prize through 2nd Chance or online giveaways, we will use your phone number, email and/or address to contact you! You can always check your tickets on our website or at a retail store, which you can locate on the app under “Retailers,” without creating an account.
Q: I am experiencing other issues with the app. What can I do?
