Minnesota is THE place to be in the summer. Here are some ideas to get you started enjoying all the great things that Minnesota has to offer.

Here are 10 ways to say I’MN during this highly anticipated and short-lived season:

1. Experience “Up North”

Up north can really mean anywhere in Minnesota. Minnesotans love their lakes and love their cabins. If you’re not lucky enough to own a cabin, you most likely know someone who does so take advantage when you can.

2. Attend a fair or festival

Fairs and festivals are held in small towns and big cities alike all over Minnesota. Check out Explore Minnesota’s calendar to find one near you.

3. Go to the Minnesota State Fair

The Minnesota State Fair is in a league of its own when it comes to fairs. There’s a reason why it’s called the Great Minnesota Get Together because it is truly great on so many levels— the food, entertainment, culture, and people watching are top notch.

4. Explore a State Park

Did you know more than 50 percent of Minnesota State Parks have benefitted from Lottery proceeds? Whether you like to hike, bike, canoe, fish, camp, or just take in the sights and sounds of the great outdoors, there’s bound to be a park near you.  Get out and explore a state park near you.

6. Go fishing

In the Land of 10,000 Lakes, the options are endless on where you can get your line wet. We’re proud that Lottery proceeds have helped make fishing more accessible for anglers in every county in Minnesota.

7. Try out a new water activity

Minnesota may be known as the birthplace for water skiing, but there is so much more you can experience on a lake, and in some cases, you don’t even have to get your feet wet.

8. Visit a farmers market

There’s nothing better than supporting local farmers and enjoying homegrown produce and foods. Spend an afternoon strolling through your local farmers market and you might be surprised what you find.

9. Enjoy a meal on a rooftop

Having a meal on a patio or sidewalk is great but eating on a roof-top brings the experience to a whole new level.
