Powerball was the ticket for 10 Minnesota players to attend the world’s biggest New Year’s Eve party at New York’s Time Square at Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve Party and have the chance to start the new year as Powerball’s first millionaire.
At the stroke of midnight, the ball dropped in Times Square welcoming 2020—something most people will never see in person—and Minnesota Lottery players were part of it all.
The trip included a four-day, three-night trip for two people to New York City. Each V.I.P. package included roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations, a holiday dinner cruise down the Hudson River, a New Year’s Eve dinner party, and a tour of the famous Radio City Music Hall with a performance by the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular.
Winner Mike Burth said that the trip was a “bucket list” item for his wife. “It was fantastic,” he said. “Unbelievable. They treated everyone like millionaires, even though we weren’t the $1 million winner,” he said with a laugh. One of the highlights for Mike and his wife was the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular show. “I’m glad my wife talked me into going,” he said. “It really was spectacular.”
Robert Fitzgerald said that the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular show was “really neat.” The seats were amazing, second row from the stage.” Fitzgerald’s favorite part of the trip was the dinner cruise that featured views of the Statue of Liberty.
