Here at the Minnesota Lottery, we love to give away prizes, and since every ticket can’t be a winner — because we’re here to give back to Minnesota in a big way, like $3 billion and counting big — we offer a variety of 2nd Chances throughout the year to give you even more ways to win.
From cars to trip packages to Minnesota-made merchandise prize packs and just about everything in between, including exclusive prizes that even money can’t buy, our 2nd Chances could be the ticket to your next big win.

To view the current list of 2nd Chances, visit the ”2nd Chance” tab at the top of mnlottery.com. Each ticket that offers a 2nd Chance has a 2nd Chance icon on the front of the ticket. Look for that icon when you’re picking out tickets at your local lottery retailer if you want another chance to win.

Once you have successfully entered your tickets – you can confirm entry by checking your entry “history” — you can recycle them.
How do I find out if I’ve won?
Winners are posted on the 2nd Chance winners page of mnlottery.com.
We also send an email to contest winners to let them know they won. Please add mnlottery.com to your contacts and check your spam or junk folder for email from us.
Will I ever get a phone call?
If we can’t verify information that you provided on your account, we’ll give you a call.
If you win over $600, we’ll contact you by phone and email with additional information on how to fill out an electronic winner affidavit to claim your prize.
How long does it take to get my prize?
On average it takes from 3 to 6 weeks until the prize is delivered to your doorstep. Prizes are shipped via SpeeDee and require a signature from someone 18+. There will be multiple attempts to deliver a prize, however, if no one is able to sign for a prize, it will be returned to the lottery. If this happens, we will call you to make alternate arrangements to get you your prize. Want to ensure that you receive your prize? Go to “My Account” and verify that your address is correct.
Do 2nd Chances take away from cash prizes?
A common misconception is that a 2nd Chance greatly reduces the amount of cash winnings offered on a scratch game. However, only a very small portion if any of the normal cash prizes fund 2nd Chance prizes. In most cases the 2nd Chance prizes are added in addition to the normal cash payout of a game.
Possible reasons that 2nd Chance dates change
2nd Chance end dates or drawing dates may change due to several reasons:
- A scratch game may sell out earlier than expected, resulting in a shorter entry period.
- After a game ends, all lottery retailers must return any unsold tickets before we can hold the final 2nd Chance drawing. Sometimes this process takes longer than anticipated, so we need to delay the final draw date.
- When mnlottery.com is down due to regularly scheduled maintenance and updates you will not be able to access your account to submit 2nd Chance entries.
- A contest entry start or end date is inconsistent with the official 2nd Chance rules. The drawing is delayed until the inconsistency has been resolved.
- A technical issue with the entry system.
Our number-one priority is that our 2nd Chance drawings are secure and fair, and while we also want them conducted on time, sometimes changes must be made to drawing schedules to ensure their integrity and security.
