If you’ve spent any time in the Twin Cities, chances are you’ve seen Adam’s work at a local brewery, on a restaurant wall, or on screen prints or merchandise you’ve picked up in a city shop.
His bold dynamic style riffs on Minnesota culture: our folklore, our weather, our landscape. His goal is to create art that makes people smile. His love of Minnesota and his graphic style distinctly represents who we are.
Turman grew up in the Twin Cities and has been drawing since his mom first put a pencil in his hands. He studied graphic design at the University of Minnesota, graduated in ‘99 and worked for years in the graphic design industry at local agencies. During this time, Adam was designing gig posters for rock bands playing local venues like First Avenue and Triple Rock Social Club. He used his illustrative style to build a successful freelance business and in 2012, he was able to quit his day job and set out on his own.

You can also see larger than life murals Adam has created for his Minnesota clients to celebrate their brands and their audience - big pieces that are a part of the landscape. One of his personal favorites is a mural at the seafood focused restaurant 4 Bells in downtown Minneapolis featuring the Kraken fighting Poseidon. He has loved having the opportunity to work with Minnesota Brands including the Spam® Museum, the Guthrie Theater, Target Field, the Minnesota State Fair and the now, Minnesota Lottery. Adam designed four summer themed tickets for our Winnesota Summer scratch game.
When asked what he loves most about his life as an artist, Turman stated that he gets to do what he loves and he never knows what each day will bring. He also said that it’s a rush to see people out and about in a T-shirt he’s designed or carrying a pint glass or poster that will find a place in their home.
We asked if he planned to purchase a Winnesota Summer ticket. He said “You betcha! I’m hoping to pick up each of the designs.”
