Minnesota once had 18 million acres of prairie. Today, only one percent remains. Prairies provide habitat for many plant and animal species, many of which are endangered. Prairies have many other important functions, including water filtration and erosion control. Lottery dollars are helping to protect, restore and sustain native prairie ecosystems.
