The National Eagle Center is a world-class interpretive center located on the banks of the Mississippi River just off Hwy 61 in Wabasha. It’s the premier resource for eagle education with daily programs, field trips, and up-close experiences with live eagle ambassadors and naturalists. There’s nothing quite like watching wild eagles soar and dive over the Mississippi River from your own perch on the patio. The National Eagle Center has benefitted from $60,000 in lottery proceeds that have supported a survey on golden eagles, which were not previously thought to be regular inhabitants of Minnesota.

After your visit, drive north along Hwy 61. Stop at Lake City Fresh Market to grab a snack and your Road Trip! scratch tickets, then head across the street to take a well deserved break on the shore of the Mississippi River. Then, travel to Frontenac State Park. Hike the park trails for some amazing views from the river bluffs. $150,000 in lottery proceeds have contributed to the Mississippi River Valley Blufflands Initiative to help Wabasha and Winona counties and their local communities increase awareness of the significance of the blufflands and the importance of ongoing stewardship in the area.
